Explore Egyptian American Medical Center

Egyptian American Medical Center is designed from the ground up to enhance the quality of patient care, healing and comfort. The new building offers a full slate of amenities including private patient rooms, free parking, free wireless internet access, and waiting areas full of ambient light.

Adjacent to the main medical center, and connected by an enclosed walkway, is the brand new Medical Offices Building. The 10,000-square-meters complementary structure will provide patients with convenient, on-site access to outpatient services such as physical rehabilitation; cancer care including radiation therapy and chemotherapy; and ambulatory surgery. It will also house 100-physician offices with specialties in neurosurgery, pain management and more.

Healthy Environment. Healthy Patients.

The main medical center building at Egyptian American Medical Center is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified building. It is designed to meet specifications for energy savings, water efficiency, improved indoor environmental quality and other considerations that impact the environment and quality of life. To help qualify for LEED certification, Egyptian American Medical Center will be constructed with these features:

  • Minimized disturbance of the local habitat
  • Storm water management
  • 30% water use reduction
  • 25% more energy efficient than required
  • Light pollution reduction

In addition, green housekeeping materials will be used and staff and patients will receive “green” education when the hospital opens.

The plans for Egyptian American Medical Center also include the creation of open green space. Approximately one-half of the property (about 20,000 square-meters) will be open green space, providing a tranquil setting for patients and their visitors.

Comfort is Good Medicine

Egyptian American Medical Center not only features state of the art technology, but comforts that will make its patients and guests feel at ease in the space.

Private Patient Rooms

All rooms are private and divided into zones for maximum comfort and efficiency:

  • The patient zone is for the patient’s bed and medical equipment.
  • The caregiver zone allows space for caregivers to document care, submit orders, wash hands and complete other tasks.
  • The family zone includes a sleeper sofa so a loved one can stay overnight with the patient.
  • Each zone has special, individually controlled lighting for everyone’s convenience and comfort.

Additional features include:

  • Wall-to-wall windows for maximum natural light to promote healing.
  • Wood-like floors to provide a warm, healing environment and decrease the clinical appearance.
  • Thermostats in each room so patients and families can control the temperature.
  • Free wireless internet access and flat-screen televisions.
  • Private bathrooms with showers.

EAMC Campus Design

Outside of Cairo, Egypt, in 6 October City, the Egyptian American Medical Center will rise to create a stunning, state of the art medical facility on the Cairo-Alexandria Highway. The design is founded in the sun-rich environment and the desire to create an oasis of shade to harbor spaces of healing. The mass of the building is carved away, emulating erosion by desert winds, creating dramatic angles, and then separated in the middle to form the grand entry. Raised on an elevated plinth, the entry courtyard is a lush, shaded space with cascading shadows from the canopy above. The materials are limestone for the outer shell screened from the harsh heat and sun environment with deep recessed windows that allude to Egyptian graphical patterns.

The interior/ main entry is an oasis of palm tree gardens and courtyards combined with entry drives. This oasis is then transferred into the building thru transparent glass walls that create lobbies for both inpatient and outpatient access.

The entire area is shaded with a continuous canopy that extends over the complex providing shade cover to outdoor and indoor spaces.

With the latest in modern medical equipment, the EAMC will offer a full-service Acute Care Hospital, a Cancer Center, a 100-physician Medical Arts Building, a Conference/Education Center, a Wellness Center, along with many other services to serve the region.

Built For Efficiency:

One physician office with two exam rooms. This set-up will allow for a very efficient thru-put of patients, whereby a nurse and the physician work in tandem with the nurse collecting the history and doing the patient’s vitals in one exam room, while the physician examines a patient in the second exam room. Once the clinical consultation is finished, the physician moves to the other exam room, while the other patient gets dressed and the nurse assists with the post-visit instructions. Then the nurse brings in the next patient for history and vitals and the cycle starts over again. The physician office is primarily a private space for charting and private consultations.
